A 4-year-old girl from New Jersey is being hailed a hero after her quick thinking saved her mother’s life. Isla Glaser was home with her mom and siblings when she saw her mom, Haley Glaser, collapse. She tried to wake her, but when she wasn’t responsive, Isla called 911.
“My mommy fell down and can’t talk,” Isla told 911 dispatchers Olivia Klein and Julie Kozo before giving them her address. She went on to tell them that her mom had been sick and experiencing a fever prior to passing out. The situation was due to an underlying medical condition.
Isla has been rewarded greatly for helping out in that crucial moment. She received a badge and a certificate for her bravery from the Franklin Township Police Department.
“Not all heroes wear capes,” said Officer Michael Casey.
“She’s a little nervous,” said Haley about Isla receiving the honor. “I’m grateful she wasn’t nervous when she made the call.”
While medical professionals worked on tending to Haley, Isla stepped up yet again. She looked after her three younger siblings, which include 1-year-old twins. She also kept her dog from barking at first responders.
The Franklin Township Police Department shared Isla’s story on Facebook. “Today we got to commend Isla for the great job she did calling 9-1-1 to get her mom help. It was amazing to see news outlets from all over the region come out to celebrate this amazing young lady!” they wrote.
