On the eve before Thanksgiving, Mike Reed drove his car to a local deli to pick up some food. But upon walking out the door, a man with a gun approached him and swiftly took his wallet and car keys.
Mike watched helplessly as the gunman drove off in his car — but the most terrifying part of all was that his beloved miniature schnauzer, Franz, had been sitting in the back seat.
Mike called the cops, hoping and praying Franz would be found alive and well.
“I was worried that he was dumped,” he told WJW Cleveland. “We put flyers out everywhere, we got tons of people on social media helping us out.”
The devastated owner imagined Franz sitting outside alone and freezing to death as temperatures dipped below 20 degrees.
Making matters even more stressful was the fact Franz had not been microchipped.
As the hours passed, Mike feared he’d never again see his best friend …
And then? A Thanksgiving miracle.
