Chadwick Boseman, Beloved Star of ‘Black Panther’ Dies at 43 Years of Age

As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse, the news of the beloved star of ‘Black Panther’, Chadwick Boseman passing away has been confirmed by his representative to sources such as Variety.

On Friday, after a four year battle with colon cancer Chadwick Boseman passed away.

Before putting on the mask of Marvels Black Panther, Boseman made a name for himself portraying great Black American icons, such as Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film “42” and James Brown in 2014’s “Get on Up”

But his quickly shot up to mega fame with his role in the marvel universe.

Chadwick Boseman’s passing away from colon cancer is coming as a shock to many people and fans around the world as most didn’t even know it was something he was dealing with.

Although Boseman never public spoke about his battle, according to a statement, he worked through treatments for much of his career, starting in 2017 when he portrayed another Black icon, NCAAP lawyer and future Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall, in 2017’s “Marshall” — a year before the premiere of “Black Panther.”

Most recently, Boseman appeared in the Spike Lee’s Vietnam War drama “Da 5 Bloods,” and this year he’s due to appear opposite Viola Davis “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” a feature adaptation of the August Wilson play, directed by George C. Wolfe

A statement posted on his twitter page reads:

“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the statement reads. “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progresses to stage IV.”

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

Boseman passed away at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side.

Chadwick Boseman was an incredible actor and person that chose to use his talents and skills to shine light, and bring to life on the big screen, powerful Black Icons that children and adults for generations can look up to.

His light and presence will be missed.
