Joe Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to four Super Bowl titles throughout the ’80s. Today, he’s in the headlines for a shocking reason. The 64-year-old legendary quarterback, along with his wife, Jennifer, have just gone through the unthinkable.
Over the weekend, a female suspect reportedly broke into Montana’s home in Malibu, California, and walked right into his living room.
There, she tried kidnapped his 9-month-old grandchild, who was sleeping in a playpen. The suspect then walked upstairs — only to be met by Montana and his wife. The stunned couple came face-to-face with her.
A heated confrontation ensued in Montana’s home before the woman — who was eventually identified by authorities as Sodsai Dalzell — fled the scene and ended up at a nearby home. She is currently facing charges of kidnapping and burglary.
Thankfully, he and his wife were able to take their grandchild back, by literally prying the baby out of the kidnapper’s arms, and the child was not harmed.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” Montana wrote on Twitter. “Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.”
The clip below shows footage captured during the suspect’s arrest. What a terrifying situation.
