Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently on a six-week break from royal duties, but that doesn’t mean the pair will let their popular Instagram account, sussexroyal, go dormant during that time. The two recently took to what might be their favorite platform to share how they will be celebrating the “Twelve Days of Christmas.” Sounds cute, right?
Well, it would be cute, but apparently their language, which seems sweet and sincere enough, has enraged some British citizens. Why? Because they use the phrase “holiday season,” which many of their British followers have deemed “too American.”
Well.
One commenter fired back, “I’m sorry but its called Christmas not festive holidays.”
Another followed up with, “Christmas, Christmas, Christmas! Repeat after me… Happy…Christ…mas!”
The reaction is curious, considering that, you know, not everyone in England is Christian or celebrates Christmas in the first place. For example, there are over 250,000 Jews in England, and 5% of the population is Muslim.
