Hannah Lindeman wasn’t due to give birth until January 21, but her baby had other ideas.
It seems like the excitement of Christmas got to everyone, including the baby, who just couldn’t wait any longer to step out into the world!
Hannah says she and her family were opening gifts on Christmas morning when she started having some pretty serious and painful contractions. She thought they would pass, seeing as she wasn’t due for another month, but she was in for a surprise.
“Finally, somebody in the room said, ‘OK, we’re done trying to open presents. You guys are gonna go to the hospital,’” Hannah told CBS Minnesota. There was no more denying it — the baby was on the way.
Hannah and her husband Taylor jumped into the car and took off for the hospital, but their baby didn’t want to wait. Taylor had to deliver her right there on the side of the road, in subzero temperatures.
Even though Hannah was a little distracted giving birth, she says even she could feel how cold it was when Taylor opened the door to help deliver the baby.
With the help of a calm, collected, and invaluable 911 dispatcher named Jake Prager, Taylor and Hannah delivered their tiny Christmas miracle: a little girl they named Poppy. Talk about an amazing Christmas present!
