Everyone’s concerned about their health going into the winter months. It’s the time of year you’re most likely to get sick. This year, that risk feels particularly great. In talking about ways to stay healthy this winter, many have stressed the importance of getting a flu shot. During the 2018-2019 flu season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that just 49.2% of people ages 6 months and older got the flu vaccine.
The stat showed an increase from other years. Still, it was far from the 70% target that the Department of Health and Human Services set for the entire population in 2010.
There are also a lot of common misconceptions that go around about the flu shot. With varied information going around, LittleThings decided to get facts. We spoke with Jocelyn Konrad, Rite Aid‘s executive vice president and chief pharmacy officer, about flu shots and staying healthy this winter.
