Relationships are complicated and when you’re unhappy, it can be difficult to tell what’s causing it and what needs to change.
Sometimes it’s as easy as opening up to your partner about your problems, while other times it may be necessary to switch partners or roll solo to get your mind straight.
When you’re in the thick of things, it can be difficult to tell if you’re unhappy in your relationship or just unhappy in general (in which case, a relationship may be just the cure you need).
Here’re signs of an unhappy relationship that is possibly making you feel stuck:
1. You would rather spend your time with friends or family.
One of the most obvious signs that your relationship makes you unhappy is when you no longer want to spend time with your partner. The available time is always limited. If you think that you would rather spend all your time with family or friends, this clearly indicates that you are not necessarily happy with your partner. If this is the case, you should clearly identify this concern and communicate with your partner. Most likely, your partner will already sense this from you ahead of time.
2. You’re not having fun together anymore.
While it is a bad sign if you do not want to spend time with your partner, it is also an indication of an unhappy relationship if you do not enjoy the time the two of you do spend together. Even if you are looking forward to seeing your significant other on a regular basis, it still will be concerning if you do not have a fun time with your partner. There are many reasons why you do not like spending time with your partner. This can include having a lack of shared interests or simply not having good chemistry.
3. You feel drained.
When you are in a healthy relationship, you should feel more energetic and happy. However, if you suddenly feel that you are exhausted by all the drama and emotions associated with this relationship, it is clearly a sign that you are unhappy. In these situations, it is important for you to see what is triggering you and whether this is something that can be worked out with your partner.
4. You’re not as attracted to your partner.
In any relationship, being attracted to your partner is extremely important. If you have been in a relationship for only a short period of time, losing an attraction to someone may be a bad sign for the future of the relationship. However, if it was a long-term relationship, there are probably things that you and your partner can do to improve your attraction to one another. It is very important that you and your partner be open and honest about these issues.
5. You feel trapped.
One of the worst feelings that you can have in a relationship is feeling trapped. If you have been with someone for only a period of time, you probably have no reason to feel trapped and you should be able to end the relationship. However, long-term relationships, including marriage, are associated with more commitment and strings attached. If you feel suffocated and trapped by your partner, you should talk to them about this. In some situations, being open and having a good line of communication will be enough to make you feel better.
Relationships can be hard. This post will show whether or not your relationship is making you unhappy.
