Josiah and Lauren Duggar welcomed their daughter, Bella, on November 8, 2019, and family and fans alike were thrilled for the couple. Bella’s birth followed the miscarriage of their first baby, whom they named Asa.
Lauren has called the miscarriage the “worst day of my life,” and she opened up on Instagram to talk about what it felt like with the couple’s followers. The two also spoke about the experience on an episode of Counting On.
“Lauren and I were actually preparing for a trip to go to a friend’s wedding. She started feeling really sick and started noticing some different things,” Josiah explained. “Mrs. Swanson was there, so she was able to help her out. I didn’t know exactly what was going on.”
Lauren followed up his comments by adding, “I was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange because I normally don’t. I was thinking maybe I had something that had gluten in it. It was late at night and I went to use the restroom and there was the baby. Gone. I couldn’t believe it and I was hoping it wasn’t true.”
Following their loss, the couple was especially happy to be expecting Bella only a few months later.
