Many little girls welcome any opportunity to feel like a princess. A 6-year-old girl named Morgan Richards learned that firsthand when she was treated to a wonderful surprise while dressed as Belle from the Disney film Beauty and the Beast.

Morgan was excited to dress up as Belle for a special dance, but she had no idea who was waiting to surprise her under the “Beast” mask.

After dancing together, the Beast unmasked himself — and that’s when Morgan realized it was her dad, Brandon. Brandon is in the Navy and spends a lot of time away on deployment. He’d been in the Pacific for the previous six months, so he wanted to do something special for his daughter upon his homecoming.

The only thing sweeter than the dance they shared was the look on Morgan’s face when she realized it was her daddy all along. She hugged him tight, so happy to see him. Her mother, Elizabeth, told Inside Edition that they always try to make things special for the kids when Brandon comes home since they spend so much time apart. “You can’t really bank on when they’re coming home, on the exact time of day, so really, the element of surprise always has to be there,” she explained.

For Brandon, it’s important that the memories he makes with Morgan trump the moments he has to miss. “It’s just a surreal feeling; to do something that they can remember like this is awesome,” he said. “Just to have that experience, it means a lot.” Watch Morgan’s face as she gets the sweet surprise in the video!
