A school board meeting was set to take place this past week in Volusia County, Florida. The main topic of discussion was the potential extension of a mask mandate in the district’s schools.
In Orlando, a local mandate has been in place since August 2020 that has made it mandatory for students to wear masks while on school property.
However, the school board meeting got off to a late and disrupted start when a group of irate mothers entered the room.
These moms wanted to state their opinion loud and clear: they were “asking to be given the right to medical choice” by removing the mandatory mask policy.
They themselves refused to wear masks during the meeting, which sparked commotion throughout the board room.
Other masked school board members and attorneys asked the mothers to put on masks, but the police were called when things got out of control; the moms started name-calling and refused to leave, claiming they had medical issues that made it difficult for them to wear masks.
They believe the school board is trying to take away parents’ rights to control their kids’ medical issues.
In the clip below, police yank the outraged moms from one-by-one and escort them outside the building.
According to The Hill, seven parents were banned from the property for one year as a result of the incident, which delayed the meeting by more than an hour.
