It’s official: Beloved Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek will be returning when season 37 of the show debuts on September 14. Alex will be joined by Ken Jennings, the show’s all-time reigning champion.
Ken will be joining the team as a consulting producer. Sony has explained that he will be on hand to “present his own special video categories, develop projects, assist with contestant outreach, and serve as a general ambassador for the show.”
The show’s set will also be socially distanced to hopefully shield the contestants from the virus. This season’s casting was conducted entirely on Zoom, and the episodes will be filmed without a studio audience.
While Alex continues to battle pancreatic cancer, he has shared that he’s been extra-thankful for the show this year. Like a lot of us, he needs something to do! “On a personal level, I’m excited because it gets me out of the house,” he said. “It gives me something to do on a regular basis, and I was missing that.”
