This story serves as a reminder to always watch your travel bags closely, and be mindful of what you pack.
Doris Mooren of Northfield, Ohio, passed away at the age of 92.
Her grieving family members flew from California to Ohio to bury the ashes during a small memorial service. They headed off to the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport with a checked bag that contained Doris’ ashes and death certificate.
However, before the family even made it down to baggage claim, the bag containing her ashes had been stolen from the turnstile.
The family was devastated and desperate to get those ashes back. At first, they thought it was hopeless. Still, they offered a monetary reward for anyone with information.
However, a security video obtained by FOX 8 I-TEAM surprisingly held the key to the mysterious stolen bag.
The video shows passengers arriving at baggage claim, while a man and a woman come from the other direction — a pair whom police believe are the thieves in question.
They both stand around the baggage carousel before each grabbing a suitcase and walking away.
Luggage owned by other passengers was also reportedly stolen that night.
Police began compiling evidence to seek justice for Doris and her family.
