Morgan Wallen is an up-and-coming country musician who got his start on season six of The Voice. In 2019, he rose to fame thanks to his hit single, “Whiskey Glasses,” which became the year’s most-played song on country radio.
Morgan was recently supposed to make his very first appearance on Saturday Night Live — a huge milestone for any artist looking to grow his or her fan base. But the legendary television show has officially and abruptly canceled his guest spot.
Days before his big SNL debut, Morgan was captured in TikTok videos partying at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa — without wearing a mask.
In the collection of videos, the country singer can be seen in the throes of a huge crowd after an Alabama-Texas A&M football game, surrounded by tons of people, posing with fans indoors and even kissing several women. His protective neck gaiter was pulled down in most of the footage, and most of the other partiers had their masks hanging underneath their chins.
Morgan was in New York City, preparing for his SNL performance, when he received the call that he would no longer be the musical guest.
Though he says he does not have COVID-19, he seems to be understanding about the decision made by SNL to cancel his performance. The show is back for its 46th season and is filming live episodes under very strict health guidelines.
Watch the video below to see how Morgan reacted to the sudden SNL cancellation.
