The Craft inspired an entire generation of girls to get in touch with their witchy side. “Light as a feather, stiff as a board” was a mainstay at sleepovers for years to come after the cult classic was released.
Now the spirit of The Craft is back in The Craft: Legacy. The new film picks up 20 years after the original. The stars who make up the new coven are Gideon Adlon as Frankie, Zoey Luna as Lourdes, Lovie Simone as Tabby, and Cailee Spaeny as Lily. None of the young actors had even been born when the original film came out. Still, they’ve stepped up to the challenge of honoring the original in this new chapter.
“I remember I watched The Craft and what happens to, I guess, everyone who falls in love with The Craft, it happened to me, “Lovie laughed with Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. “Like, I couldn’t get out of that realm of my angsty teen phase.”
“I just remember falling in love with it and watching it maybe four or five more times leading up to my audition, just because I enjoyed it so much,” she added. “I think that me watching it was part of the reason why I was so invested in my audition, because I really wanted to be a part of that world. How could I not?”
“I hope people take the theme that your difference is your power,” she noted.
“I know that is also the theme for the original Craft, in the sense that [by] stepping into your powers, you’re not going to be the same as anyone else and all that. You must rise above it all to find your people or your coven or your home outside of home.”
