When 5-year-old Carver heard about the fires that have devastated his home state of Oregon, he told his grandmother, Sasha Tinning, that he wanted to do something to help. When Sasha heard about a local donation drive that had been organized to support the firefighters, she shared the news with Carver and he immediately came up with a plan: He wanted to send a Baby Yoda doll to the crew.
Carver packed Baby Yoda up with a note that reads, “Thank you, firefighters. Here is a friend for you, in case you get lonely <3 Love, Carver.”
A few days later, the man who set up the donation drive told Sasha just how much the firefighters loved their gift. She explained, “These firefighters are putting their lives on the line. To have a little bit of sunshine during such a dark time, I think that’s really special for them. He (Baby Yoda) is also just cute as the dickens.”
She added, “These firefighters are away from their children, their loved ones. This is a little pal that brings a bit of normalcy to a crazy time.”
In fact, the firefighters love Baby Yoda so much that they started a Facebook group where they share photos of all the adventures the doll takes. That way Carver and other kids (and adults) who love Baby Yoda can see how much help their favorite hero really has been.
