Little Johnny was sitting at the kitchen table while his mother prepared dinner. His father was quietly reading the newspaper when Johnny suddenly looked up.
Johnny:
“Dad, why do grown-ups like to exercise in bed?”
His mother stopped cooking and listened carefully.
Dad:
“Well… because it makes grown-ups happy.”
Johnny:
“I want to be happy too!”
Dad:
“You will be someday, son. But you have to wait until you’re a grown-up.”
Johnny thought for a moment.
Johnny:
“When I grow up, who will exercise with me?”
Dad:
“Hopefully, your wife will exercise with you.”
Johnny nodded, satisfied with the answer.
Johnny:
“Dad?”
Dad:
“Yes, Johnny?”
Johnny:
“Then how come our neighbor Sally exercises with you?”
The spoon suddenly dropped from his mother’s hand.
Dad turned pale.
Before he could respond, Johnny continued innocently,
Johnny:
“I saw you two exercising in the garage yesterday!”
His mother rushed out of the kitchen.
Dad tried to explain, but nobody was listening.
Ten minutes later, an ambulance arrived, and the paramedics carefully helped Dad onto a stretcher.
Johnny looked at the paramedic with wide eyes.
Johnny:
“Wow… grown-up exercise must be really dangerous!”
