“Don’t worry about the things you can’t control. Sometimes you just have to pray, put it in God’s hands, and leave it alone. Pray about it tonight and leave it alone.”
Unexpected crises are a natural part of life, just like storms. You are currently in one of three storm types: you have just come out of one, you are in one, or you are on your way to one. As with crises, they cannot be avoided; even if you hide in the storm shelter, the pounding continues! As a result, we must learn how to prepare for and deal with these challenges. As with crises, we must learn to anticipate and weather them by learning and rising from them.
Not only does God hear our petitions, but He also assures us that He will answer them in His own perfect time and way. God already knows what we need, yet He expects us to ask for them. He is asking us to pray. When we express our wants, we hand them over to Him. We let go. We have faith.
Put everything in God’s hands, and you will eventually see His hand in everything. Leave your fear in the hands of the One who can quiet the sea, and He will soothe your heart. Place your pain in the hands of the One Who provided sight to the blind, and He will heal your broken heart. Put your financial desires in the hands of the One who owns everything, and He will provide you with peace and stability. Put your point of view in the hands of the One whose perspective is flawless, and He will provide clarity.
The delight of entrusting everything to the Lord is witnessing His hand in everything. A “no” today turns into a better “yes” tomorrow, if we believe God. Put everything in the hands of God by faith, and start to see His hand at work in all of it.
