An American couple adopted a little boy from Germany.
The years went by, but the boy never spoke.
After two years, his parents began to worry.
After three years, he was still completely silent.
Even after four years, he had not said a single word.
Although they were concerned, they loved him dearly.
On his next birthday, they baked him a chocolate cake with orange icing and planned a special celebration.
While his parents were in the kitchen, the boy walked in and calmly said,
“Mother, Father, I don’t like the orange icing on the chocolate cake.”
His parents stared at him in amazement.
“My goodness!” his mother exclaimed. “You can talk?”
“Of course,” the boy replied.
His father asked,
“Then why haven’t you said anything all these years?”
The boy shrugged and answered,
“Well… up until now, everything has been satisfactory.”
