A woman walked into a pet store looking to buy a parrot.
As she looked around, she noticed that most of the parrots cost between $150 and $200.
Then she spotted one in a separate cage with a price tag of $2,500.
Curious, she called over the salesperson.
“Why is this parrot so expensive?” she asked. “What’s so special about it?”
The salesperson smiled.
“Ma’am, this is no ordinary parrot. It’s incredibly smart. It can answer almost any question and has been specially trained.”
The woman turned to the parrot and asked,
“So, how do I look?”
The parrot looked her up and down and bluntly replied,
“You look very rude!”
The woman frowned.
“I can’t believe that! It’s a clever bird, but it’s far too impolite.”
The salesperson apologized.
“Please give me just a couple of minutes.”
He took the parrot into the back room and left it in a cold freezer for a short time.
When he brought it back, he warned,
“If you insult that lady again, you’ll be going right back in there.”
The shivering parrot nodded.
The salesperson turned to the woman.
“Please, ask another question.”
She smiled.
“All right. If I came home with one man, who would you think he is?”
The parrot answered,
“Your fiancé.”
“Very good,” she said. “What if there were two men?”
“Your fiancé and his brother.”
“And if there were three?”
“Your fiancé, his brother, and your brother.”
She nodded, impressed.
“What if there were four men?”
The parrot glanced nervously at the salesperson and swallowed.
“Your fiancé, his brother, your brother, and his best friend.”
The woman smiled.
“And what if there were four men and a teenage boy?”
The parrot looked at the salesperson and cried,
“Freeze me if you want, but I was right the first time!”
